Each year Scouts in Southeastern New England collect more than 100,000 pounds of food

Scouting For Food 2023

Since 1988 the Scouts of the Narragansett Council have helped feed families in need by collecting nearly 10 million pounds of food! The yearly Good Turn is the area’s most impactful food drive and the largest annual Scout service project. This year Scouts will travel door to door on the first Saturday in November collecting food donations.

How does it work?

On October 28th, Scouts will distribute yellow door hangers to residences across southeastern New England. Scouts will return on the following Saturday, November 4th to collect donations. If you receive a door hanger, please place canned and boxed goods in a bag, attach the door hanger, and place it outside your front door or where the door hanger was left by 9:00 am on Saturday, November 4th.

Most needed items

Please try to include healthy foods such as canned tuna, peanut butter, soups, cereal, and canned vegetables. Please no glass or perishables. Canned and boxed goods only.

How to help in other ways

If you do not receive a door hanger you can support the 2023 Scouting for Food Drive in other ways:

  1. Donate food online

  2. Donate food in-person

This year, more than ever, our neighbors need our help. The Narragansett Council Boy Scouts are looking forward to facing the challenge and once again supporting our neighbors in need.
