Council Awards and Recognition

Silver Beaver

The Silver Beaver is the highest and most prestigious honor awarded to a Scouting volunteer by a local council. This award recognizes individuals who truly go above and beyond to guarantee the availability of a quality Scouting program in the Narragansett Council.

The Silver Beaver Award recognizes volunteers who provide leadership at the council level.  Excellent nominees are those who actively provide leadership on council committees, council program events, fundraising programs, the executive board or in other ways advance the Scouting movement at a council level.  Typically, nominees have previously been recognized with the District Award of Merit.  Nominees must be registered volunteers.

Please consider nominating a dedicated Scouter that has influenced the program of Scouting in your area for this award.

North Star

This award, equivalent to the Silver Beaver, recognizes individuals that support Scouting in the council, the community, and youth across the region. That these recipients are NOT currently members of the Boy Scouts of America makes their service and dedication all the more remarkable.

Excellent nominees would be individuals that provide significant support to Scouting by supporting our community service projects, providing significant in-kind support to council programs, or promoting of Scouting in the council over a period of years.
