Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills
WHO - Current and incoming adult Scouts BSA leaders.
WHAT - IOLS is designed to provide a working knowledge of the basic outdoor skills necessary to succeed as a Scoutmaster or Assistant Scoutmaster. Outdoor skills are critical to the success of the Scouting program, and Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills will provide leaders with the basic outdoor skills information needed to start a program right.
IOLS is the required outdoor training for all Scoutmasters, Assistant Scoutmasters. The skills taught are based on the outdoor skills found in The Scouts BSA Handbook. The course is also ideal for leaders because it focuses on skills that build confidence and competence in leaders conducting outdoor camping experiences.
WHERE - Adventure Base Camp -223 Scituate Avenue, Cranston, RI 02921

WHY - Upon completion, leaders should feel comfortable teaching Scouts the basic skills required to earn First - Class rank. Along with Scoutmaster Specific this course is required of all direct contact leaders registered in Scouts BSA in order to be considered "trained". This course is intended for every adult leader in every Troop. This is a required basic training for all Scoutmasters and Assistant Scoutmasters and may be taken by any current leader or incoming adult.

- Event begins Friday 4/26/24 at 7:00 PM ends Sunday 4/28/2024 at 12:00 PM
- Check in time is from 6:30 PM-7:00 PM. Check in is located at the Leidman Lodge
- There is a pre-meeting to this course at Champlin - TBD

HOW - Register online today! All registrants must attend the Pre-meeting being held on (7:00 PM - 9:00 PM), no registration is required.

Full Class A/Field Uniform is the appropriate attire for the weekend.
Outdoor cooking will be part of this training. Foil dinner ingredients and lunch items need to be brought by participants and will be reviewed at pre-meeting. Complete details will be provided at the pre-meeting.
